Pinball Goals for 2018

If they’re not fixed, finish up work on my Elektra and Delta Queen projects.

Elektra parts are in and being worked on, while Delta Queen will be finished - most likely by Dan Hall when I hand it off to PAPA. That game is just the bane of my existence.

Break the top 100 (not Power because my IFPA resume is already long gone for growing up a Pittsburgh pinballer) OR do my best at a certain thing that may happen (vaguespeak!).

Certain Circuit thing didn’t happen, but I got 99th at the start of PA WPPR season!

Start a blog, vlog, stream, something independent for entertainment/educational purposes. Put my shiny Black Friday C922 purchase to use!

With some more funds flying around, I can actually buy the tech I would like to do this with.

Purchase a machine from the late 80s or later.

Called the Ghostbusters up, thanks DJ!

Qualify for the IFPA State Championships in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and one other state.

Given the fact that every good Ohio event I’ve been busy for, that’s a wash or a tough ask to catch up. PA is solid, other state is yet to be determined.

Make some trips to new semi-nearby locations to play for fun/competition. Morgantown WV, Pincrossing near Harrisburg, etc.

Pinfest is on my list and my new position will have me traveling to Carlisle more often!

Bonus Objectives!

  • Become the 5th best IFPA ranked player in Pittsburgh - Currently I’m 9th, and this would put me right outside of the DJ - Cryss - Aleksander - Jon power quartet.

  • Put up 2 more nuclear GC scores on location games - with the GotG Orb double feature GC done, I would love to have some more crazy scoring strategies to chase down for initials - something to keep things fun and frantic.

Meant to do these a long time ago but:

Get to Last Man Standing on TWD. I’ve put up 80ish kills and 1.3 billion on it- no LMS though.

Score over 1 billion on Metallica. I think my high is around 800 or low 900. Been to EOL twice though.

Finish first in my league. Highest finish is 2rd.

Buy another game- preferably an EM or two.

Be in the 300 rankings by year end. 458 right now.

Learn to tap pass/shatz more consistently.

Since we’re halfway through the year, I’ll give an update

This has been going pretty well. I’m at 273 right now. My stats page says 429th for “Last Year’s Rank”…although it’s not clear to me if that was my rank at the end of the year or at some other point? I wish I had written this down my rank at the time of my previous post.

This probably wasn’t aggressive enough. I’ve been to INDISC, TPF, Cactus Jacks, and NYCPC. Missed out on 24 Hour Battle. I’ve got Pinburgh, Buffalo, and Mad Rollin on the calendar, and would like to do NWPC and/or City Champs (if I can get in).

I’ve had a lot of great opportunities to pull this off but haven’t done it. I’ve had two 18 pointers. Getting through just one more round late in a tournament, or one or two spots higher is where all the points are.

I’m at 13 right now. This will be cutting it close, and I should try to pick up the pace.

I had AC/DC at home when I made this goal, but then it left the house for 5 months. It’s back now. The new code should make it a little easier, since MBs take less shots to qualify now. I may change my strategy to switching songs before lighting MB, as it’s not uncommon for me to accidentally start it when I have the jukebox lit.

I’ve only tried this a few times. I topped out at 11 center ramp shots on GOT multiple times, but recently got 14 in a row. The pressure of that 15th shot definitely got to me. :slight_smile:

Last year I planned on winning IFPA and retiring from competitive play. Neither worked out so for this year I tone it down a bit:

Win EPC
Win the Finnish Pinball League
Continue my semi-retirement

This tool is awesome! I’m a little confused about the Pinball Gulf of 2014 in my standings, though, because to my knowledge I didn’t drop to 5,930th in the world unless @pinwizj released some very hurtful WPPR updates.

I emailed Shepherd. Something is definitely f*cked up in that dip.

We’re doing a full database rebuild since 1980 tonight, so we’ll see if that gets cleared up tomorrow (or whenever this rebuild finishes - could take DAYS) :slight_smile:

I mean, the part where I drop from 316th to 846th in a week hurts but was probably due to a combo of an event depreciating and a WPPR change, and it’s reflected in old IFPA results, but the rest of the free fall is funky fo sho.

Updates to mine:

Didn’t get to a billion on Metallica or Last Man Standing on TWD- haven’t really focused on trying for either of those.

I did finish first in my league finally!

I bought a Blue Chip

and I’m ranked right around 400. Gonna a lot harder to get to 300 by years end but we shall see.

Did you notice you have nearly the same dip? Yours only goes from March-September compared to Zoe’s March-December. Zach’s doesn’t drop to zero but it’s pretty close.

You will need to attend bigger events to get above 300. ~11pts. per event average needed currently. Best of luck.

So far so good as all goals have been achieved for the year unless I do something rad like attend a big event before year end.

Didn’t go to pinburgh:(
Didn’t even come close to top ten at circuit event :frowning:
Only had one tournament with awesome stream coverage.

Hopefully starting Pincinnati will make this a successful 2018.

EDIT: i should be top 500 before year end!

Checking up. Getting really close to top 500 but not quite there. A few sub-par performances lately in relatively major tournaments probably aren’t gonna help matters. :toilet:

Do have a few Stern Pro Circuit events booked for next year - INDISC, TPF, Pinmasters in Q1.
