Does anyone like tilt warnings lasting through the game?

Just to build off this slightly, the things I announce for tournaments are things that are different than expected. Which usually means whats different from the factory defaults that I’m aware of. They are not my machines and I don’t have the keys. So for example, the operator has their Star Wars set to stack the mini-wizard modes with other modes including other mini-wizard modes. This is not the default setting and it makes a strategic difference so I feel I need to make an announcement before hand.

If there was a JJP game there and the default is tilts per game, I’d probably make an announcement the first few times, but after that, it’s up to folks to know how a game is usually set up place-to-place.

That’s fair, but what about first-timers or infrequent players who miss the first few times?

Now that we have giant LCD displays, would it be crazy to create a new screen in the instant info to show which game settings have been changed from the factory defaults?

You do realise, that, as an example, Jurassic Park has 190 feature adjustments, right

I wouldn’t be surprised if operators where making noise about any kind of status reporting back in the day. Let alone the lavish ones of today. The score screen is one giant status report. Just make them nice and concise.

JJP (Wonka) has Tilt warnings left and game/ball in the report.

For location play, people will have to figure configuration out.

For competition, TDs be aware of modifications and actively relay this information to players.

I’ve never heard of anyone changing more than a handful.

Right. Hmmm, I wonder if the one massive issue I have with Jurassic is tweakable amongst these 190 levers. For another discussion, maybe.

What you suggest would actually be kind of cute. “Hey, this game was up to 4 extra balls per game, but the operator has chosen to reduce this to only 1.” That would fall in favour.

Well, as an operator, I would vote that the display limits it to Game specific settings, rather than things like replays, matches, etc. (Although tilts and balls per game are rather important…but most of the rest are for my eyes only!)

As a consumer, I would like to understand these things. In many jurisdictions, displaying the odds of a match may help with gambling laws.

maybe extras balls to earn
tilt warnings left

not in tournament play unless you are not playing.

Also nice to show the full pricing info that may not fit on a card.

That’s actually a pretty intriguing idea for a setting.

Ouch. Shame on me. In that case, game-scoped tilt warnings are an interesting idea.
I don’t like them much as a player, but heck- that’s only because I suck
