Current and Historical Qualifying database

Surprised it hasn’t been done yet or even talked about plus I’m far too untech-savvy (i.e. lazy) to head up such a task, but thoughts on having a spreadsheet or list of all tournaments and any appropriate link to past qualifying/final results? I’m thinking almost like the Pinball Videos database, but with links to all of the past NeverDrains, Lefkoffsupreme, BDivision, Expos, PAPAs, etc. Personally I always like to check out past tournaments to see what qualifying scores were at past tournaments or how the finals all played out, but usually have to track down any tournament or remember the acronyms at the end of the NeverDrains/Lefkoff sites to find anything. That is all, will go back to lurking and hope to see some of you at Expo next week!

It’s a massive undertaking to do this for all tournaments. Imagine all the work IFPA puts into collecting data on just the tournament results and then multiply that work by a factor of… a lot to start collecting data on individual matches.

You can also browse old brackelope tournaments at http://live.brackelope.com/ but it’s a bit hard to navigate older tournaments.

Oh I agree, it definitely wouldn’t be an overnight thing, but I might have worded my thing poorly in terms of the “data” aspect. I just simply meant a catalog of links, for example and perhaps maybe I’ll simply start a Wiki page here to get the ball rolling, but something as simple as this was all I really meant:

I think a wiki here would be a great start. I would certainly be adding links to that wiki page.

I would love to have more tournament data available. I know I’ll go through old tournaments and replay some of the games in my head. I bet (or hope) that I’m not the only one

It’s why I’m building out player profiles on Match Play Events and making sure old results stay online.

@kdeangelo does appear to clean out his server from time to time. E.g. CAX 2014 is still online, but CAX 2013 is no longer available

I have CAX 2013 backed up. When I finally get around to my big redesign I’ll put everything back up. Problem now is I get a total of 50 mysql databases at my host and I’ve used them all so anytime a new tournament is needed something else has to go.
