Avatar: The Battle for Pandora is JJP’s 2024 release, by new designer Mark Seiden. Based on the events of the first Avatar film and its sequel, The Way of Water, the player becomes a Na’vi and braves the wilds of the Pandoran forests while facing off against the RDA, an organization bent on destroying any remnants of the Na’vi’s kind.

Skill Shots:

Sivako Modes:

“Sivako” is Na’vi for “rise to the challenge”. Though it might be simple to accept a challenge and fail it, those who successfully complete what they started are strongly rewarded with honor.

There are eight major shots around the playfield that start Sivako modes when hit three times. Sivako modes are not mutually exclusive and can be played alongside any songcord mode or multiball.

Completing any Sivako mode will light the high camp / upper loop shot for honor.

Two milestones can be earned from Sivako modes: one from completing one successfully, and another from playing all eight.

  • Spider: Started at the Spider target.
  • RDA: Started at the left ramp.
  • Omatikaya: Started at the left orbit.
  • Tree of Souls: Started at the upper left ramp.
  • Metkayina: Started with 3 shots to the scoop ramp from the upper flipper.
  • Tulkun: Started with 3 shots to the raised scoop ramp from the lower flippers.
  • Dive: Started with 3 shots to the lowered scoop ramp from the lower flippers.
  • Rookery: Start at the right orbit.

Songcords:

Songcords are essentially necklaces that reflect the life experiences of the Na’vi. They are comprised of several “tokens” representing locations or characters.

In Avatar: The Battle of Pandora, each shot represents a certain token. Once enough tokens have been found, the left scoop will light to start a songcord mode based on the found tokens. The token types are represented by the key below.

Tokens & abbreviations
Token Abbreviation Shot
Spider S Spider target
RDA RDA Left ramp
AMP Suit AMP Left scoop
Omatikaya O Left orbit
Tree of Souls TOS Upper left ramp
Hometree HT VUK
Rainforest RF Reverse scoop
High Camp HC Upper loop
Jake & Neytiri J Center targets
Metkayina M Scoop ramp (from upper flipper)
Tulkun TK Raised scoop ramp (from lower flippers)
Dive D Lowered scoop ramp (from lower flippers)
Hallelujah Mountains HM Right ramp
Rookery RK Right orbit
Kids K Right targets

Complete any songcord mode to award a letter in PANDORA. There are also four milestones, two per songcord mode set: one for winning the first mode of a set, and one for playing three modes in the same set.

Omatikaya Songcord (A1 Modes):

These songcords are based on the first Avatar film.

  • First Encounter (RDA + J)
  • Viperwolves (RF + J)
  • Thanator Chase (RDA + RF + J)
  • Banshee Rookery (HT + J + HM + RK)
  • Blue Flute Clan (O + TOS + HT + RF + J)
  • Jake’s Training (O + RF + HC + J + HM)
  • First Flight (J + HM + RK)
  • Last Shadow (RF + J + HM + RK)
  • Willow Glade Destruction (RDA + O + TOS + HC + J)
  • Assault on Hometree (RDA + AMP + O + HT)
  • Preamble to Battle (O + TOS + RF + J)

Metkayina Songcord (A2 Modes):

These songcords are based on the second Avatar film.

  • Maglev Raid (RDA + O + RF + J + K)
  • High Value Prisoners (S + RDA + AMP + HC + J + K)
  • Uturu (O + J + M + RK + K)
  • Learning to Dive (M + D + K)
  • Going Na’vi (S + RDA + AMP + RK)
  • A Warrior’s Mount (J + M + D)
  • Nalutsa Attack (M + TK + D + K)
  • The Outcast (TK + D + K)
  • Ta’Unui Torching (RDA + AMP)
  • Amrita (RDA + AMP + TK)
  • Payakan Hunt (S + RDA + AMP + TK + K)

Multiballs:

Both multiballs cannot be stacked with each other, but can be stacked with Sivako and songcord modes.

Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains (A1 Multiball):

Light the lock at the infinity mirror by completing Jake & Neytiri’s center targets. The ball can then be locked at the left orbit. Lock 3 balls to start the multiball.

Scoring a super jackpot during this multiball awards a PANDORA letter.

Milestones are awarded for completing 1 stage, or playing all 3 stages of this multiball.

Battle of Awa'Atlu (A2 Multiball):

When the scoop ramp is lowered, shooting it will send balls to the lower playfields. First, the player must use the flippers to complete the targets above the Pandora reef pop bumper. Once they have been completed, the ball will drain to the second playfield where they must defeat RDA’s crab suit using the flippers, with both direct target shots and orbit hits. Once defeated, the multiball will start.

Scoring a super jackpot during this multiball awards a PANDORA letter.

Milestones are awarded for completing 1 stage, or playing all 3 stages of this multiball.

Other Scoring:

Arrows (Event Multipliers):

Hitting ramps that feed the left or right inlane will add arrows that increase the multiplier on all scores for the next “event”, ie. the next mode of any type. The maximum event multiplier is 4x.

While arrows are active, every flip counts! Each flip fires an arrow and once the current arrows on the display have been depleted, the event multiplier will decrease by 0.25x. Well-timed, accurate flips are required to make the most out of multiplied scoring from arrows.

Two inlane awards can make it easier to take advantage of arrows. “Max Toxin” at the left inlane maxes out the multiplier at 4x for the next event started, while “Unlimited Arrows” at the right inlane allows the player to take advantage of the multiplier without worrying about their flip counter.

Meuia Award (Honor):

Completing any Sivako mode will light the high camp / upper loop shot for honor. After enough honor has been earned, the hometree VUK will light to collect a Meuia award.

Eywa Award (Mystery):

Shots to the two targets flanking the Tree of Souls shot (upper left ramp) add letters to EYWA. Once EYWA is completed with four target hits, the upper left ramp will be lit for a mystery award.

Eclipse:

On Pandora, an eclipse happens once per day, causing the planet to completely change in lighting and atmosphere.

Switch hits advance the time of day on Pandora. Once the eclipse starts, the playfield lighting will immediately dim, and all shots & targets are lit to increase the value of the eclipse jackpot that can be scored with a strong shot to the right ramp, for as long as the eclipse is running.

Collecting the first eclipse jackpot of a game awards a PANDORA letter.

Bond Combos:

Shoot shots in quick succession to establish bonds with Pandoran wildlife. There are eight unique bonds to find.

Once all eight have been found, shoot the scoop to collect the bond jackpot worth the total value of each bond combo + a PANDORA letter.

Milestones:

Earn milestones to add to end-of-ball bonus. Once all 10 milestones have been collected, the final wizard mode, Oel Ngati Kameie (I See You), can be started.

The 10 milestones are as follows:

Extra Balls:

End-of-Ball Bonus:

Wizard Modes:

Eywa'Eveng (Pandora Wizard Mode):

Spell PANDORA to light this wizard mode at the left scoop.

PANDORA letters can be earned in several ways:

Oel Ngati Kameie (I See You Wizard Mode):

Complete all 10 milestones to light this wizard mode at the left scoop.

Wikified. Thanks for starting the sheet!

Also, my condolences to any stream commentators who try to pronounce all of those Navi words.

The trick is to just call the A1 & A2 songcords “turf” and “surf”.
