PINBURGH PINBURGH PINBURGH! HOLY!!!!!1111oneonetwo

Can someone make a “Pinburgh Ticket” and “Pinburgh Waitlist” entry on PinTips? Only sort of joking. :expressionless:

I wanted to try the form again to verify it went. I hope that didn’t put me 25 mins behind everyone.

If so, I’m going to be pissed at Showclix

In a group of 9 people I was the only one to be able to add four tickets to my cart right at noon. Luckily the 5 others F5’ed for 30 minutes and they all eventually got tickets.

Came around 25mins later for me…

I am super stoked to have an entry for my first time at Pinburgh! Not sure if I was lucky or what. I had a laptop and desktop refreshing. Clicked the add ticket on each as soon as it popped up. One worked, the other said not available or something along those lines.

Managed to get my 2 tickets at noon. I find that a multi-browser approach works best. Run an instance of chrome on one monitor and firefox on the other and oscillate between them refreshing at strided 2 second intervals till the ticket picker pops up on one of them. Hasn’t failed me yet :stuck_out_tongue:

Has anyone here purchased tickets via the wait list yet?

Hmm. I just got an email confirmation from Showclix for the waitlist, but I didn’t sign up for it. Anyone else?

Yep, me too.

Edit: Probably all the satellite winners, to get us in the system.

Suggestion to make the sign up process more fair and less dependent on having a good ping:

Have an hour window where anyone who signs up in an hour window is put into the pool, and then use RNG to determine who gets in, and assigns everyone else who registered in the first hour to the waitlist randomly.

I strangely like this idea even though I’ve always pinged well.

One potential flaw is what to do with friends & families who want to travel together.

Hey man no fair! That’s why I pay for faster internet!

One drawback to a lottery type system is contacting the winners. It would have to be automated on the back end and I’m guessing there is a good reason such a system isn’t already in place.

If a lottery is implemented there is no reason to limit entries to an hour. You could let anyone sign up anytime, limit tickets to that person only. But I’m sure that would create other challenges too.

Ticket lottery has been used for other events like the masters and winning applicants may request up to two tickets.
Something like that up to 2-4 tickets per request. If picked you have X hours to buy after that then open wait list.

faster does not help like that all the time.
Years ago I head about that one guy who had 4-5 cable HIS accounts at there home powering there ticket bot system.

The rush buy just leads to timeouts, stuck carts, errors, duped accounts and more.

But you don’t have a gaming chair. I didn’t sit in mine one for once and I finally scuffed a ticket buy :upside_down_face:

Two days later and still no wait list. Hmmmm. Can’t imagine dozens of people hitting enter right at the same time can be easy to sort out, let alone fair.
