Match Play Events: The Next Generation

For elimination brackets in MP there are two unbreakable rules:

  • Groups consist of four players
  • Two players are eliminated each round

So for 12 players you have to use byes to comply with those rules. With 12 players you end up with 4 byes in the first round

Is there a way to wipe points between rounds?

You can adjust point and that’ll change the standings, but that’s it

Thanks

Yes :bangbang: Mark another vote for this request. :white_check_mark:

@haugstrup Could you please include the Round # on Big Screen View? I also get asked a million times by players: “What round are we on :interrobang: We’ve been playing forever :bangbang::rofl:

Ran a 6 round, 2 match tourney last night. Had some issues with the Big Screen View.

With Expanded Matches a group’s assignments were cut off. I’m forced to use Amazon Silk on a FireTV and I’m zoomed all the way out. Nothing I can do about it, and I accept it :+1: (see Screenshot 1).

So I turn on Compact Matches, which is perfect EXCEPT it doesn’t show the current match assignments after the 1st match’s results are entered :-1: (see Screenshot 2).

@haugstrup Could you please make it so it only displays the CURRENT match assignments? Otherwise I won’t be able to use this format. New players were so confused.

Thanks as always for your hard work. :slightly_smiling_face:

It looks like it is not possible to delete Player or Arenas from a tournament at least before the tournament is starting.

Many of us prepare tournaments weeks in advance.
Before tournaments often starts player announce they will not come or machines won’t be in place.
Would be great if in the future it could be posible to delete instead of deactivation for better overview of players, which for sure will not be there.

I think this is in the works, but I have been using labels for this for now. When someone definitely isn’t coming, I put a label on them that says OUT.

It was also suggested to use the registration feature. Apparently that allows for you to delete people that back out before you add everyone into matchplay.

Is there anyway of starting a best card tournament so that every active player gets a card without me having to add a card (an entry) to every single player? I’ve been dabbing a bit with the number of automatic entries but to no avail :frowning:

There’s not because there’s no point. The card will be created automatically when you record a score for a player. There’s no point in creating an empty card.

But a player doesn’t seem to be able to enter any virtual queue unless I manually add an entry to the particular player? And if they’re not in the queue they won’t get any opportunity to get a score nor being able to submit any.

Ah, small miscommunication around the nomenclature, I think.

An entry is exchanged for a card when the player joins a queue or a score is added. But using entries is optional. If you don’t want to use the entries system, don’t turn it on for your tournament.

If you do want to use entries, then yes, a player needs to have entries added before they can queue. But again, if you don’t want to use that system, don’t turn it on.

So it sounds like in your case just don’t turn on entries for you tournament?

What I would like is to have players that have one complimentary entry to start off with, and then let them buy new ones as the tournament progresses if they would like to.

I was under the impression that this setting would let all participants have an entry automatically added to them?

That is correct. You can verify the entries have been added on the entries tab where you’ll see them added with a type of Initial

But I have to add the entries manually, the participants do not get any entry each autmatically. If you arrange a larger tournament that is a bit cumbersome having to add a first complimentary entry to everyone one at a time.

Can you share a link to a tournament where the players are not given an entry automatically?

It’s a test tournament. I hope you can help med finding out what’s wrong, or what I might being doing wrong.

Ah, your tournament is still in the planned stage. If you start the tournament the automatic entries will be added to all players.

The automatic entries aren’t added until you start the tournament because you may change your mind about how many automatic entries to create while you’re still planning out your tournament.

This fact is also in the handbook:

You may also assign a number of entries automatically to each player. This can save lots of time for tournaments where every player received a set number of entries along with their registration. These automatic entries are added to players when the tournament is started.

But I’ve cloned it and subsequently started it several times to no avail. I don’t get the participants to get any entry automatically no matter how much I try.

*I just did another try with no success. Please look at this instead: Tezzt Best Card (clone) • Match Play Events

omg I can’t believe it took me this long to spot. You were using card tournaments and I was using regular best game tournaments. I had a bug where automatic entries weren’t being added in card tournaments (but worked fine in regular best game).

It’s all fixed now and your card tournaments will respect automatic entries. Thanks for sticking with me through this
