The obvious drawback is that player D could get last in both games 1 and 2, win game 3 and get 2 points, while player B could get 2nd games 1 and 2 and lose game 3 and get zero. B beat D by 2 positions game 1, by 1 position game 2, lost by one position game 3, yet comes out worse.
