oh yeah? I thought i saw that before, 4th place get top priority in choice next round. Doesn’t make the top seed advantage as good. i know it’s rough for the usual top players bus drivers

I think it still work next year as well, as i believe games are still chosen by players @pinwizj?

Bob is right there, easy change to make really is you want that 20% bump-

What time zone is the tournament being held in?

(this is fine)

Back again for the more normal December time:

90s division aka “the real classics”.

Oh and I guess come out for Old Chicago*** Action in Classics (“Artifacts”) division!

*** Old Chicago may or may not be in the Classics bank.

Are these expected to be certified?

Unlikely; need 64+ rated players, last year we only had 37. Would need a lot more local interest or out of towners.

They can still run formats that check all the other boxes and have the certification status contingent on meeting attendance, correct? That is why I ask.

LOL. “But what if…”

Jonathan hasn’t told me what the format will be this year. Last year was Herb qualifying with standard 4-player group playoffs (4 games per round Main, 3 per round Classics and Womens, 3-2-1-0 scoring). Assuming they take at least 5 qualifying games in each division (last year was 7 in main, 6 in 90’s and Classics, 4 in Womens), it should qualify re format.

I may be a little late on this and new to the forums…We have a fairly decent size regional tournament coming up in Lebanon, TN outside of Nashville at the end of October
(Oct 28 + 29, 2022)
Pre Covid we had 100 players
Post Covid last year around 66. This is Tennessee’s biggest tournament and there are two total.
8pm Friday 3 Strikes Format
1pm Saturday Matchplay until 5pm, top 24 to finals. Typically we get in 14 rounds in 4 hours and the games chosen are from Game Galaxy so a good mix of classics, moderns, and 90s.

You can sign up early and not pay anything as well =)

Registration Opens Saturday October 1st at 11AM Central Time.

I talked to CC and she said everything is in place for each of the events to be certified assuming 64 ranked players show up (is it time for some $1 + coin drop 1R mini tournies that week/weekend? lolz)

There is 20h+ qualifying for each event, top16 to finals (no byes I believe), not longer than 4 days, etc.

EDIT: I believe the Women’s tournament is currently not setup to take 16+ into finals. However if 64+ women enter Women’s I’m sure CC would extend out the number of finalists.

Also just to be clear, I’m not picking the bank/setting up the games/deciding the format of any of this, that’s all CC + Chris. I’m just there run to run the stream and babble on the mic while scrubbing out. (Oh and maybe be a TD for rulings…)

Once it gets added to the IFPA calendar and to the main post on this thread, it could see significant lift

Truth! I believe CC is submitting to the calendar soon.

Also last time there was significant impact to attendance due to COVID which I feel is not going to happen this time around.

Time to start a 2023 thread!

I vote we make a new thread, and copy the current 2022 events into it, so we don’t have to look at 2 different posts for the rest of this year.

I’ll create a new thread later this week and update the entries.

is there more info on those @Binkley ?

@hisokajp do you want to know the bank? Is that your question?

It’s still being decided but will be filled in on the topic I created for it:

Only 90s game revealed so far is NBA Fastbreak (and yes a ring will count for +100 points it’s in the IFPA rules after all…)
