Interesting. I used to have that issue, but haven’t seen it once in the last couple code updates. Is it happening late in a long session? I wonder if it’s possible the magnet is overheating & shutting down. I heard something like that shortly after the game shipped.
Not regarding the bug, but regarding the choice on Power-Up #2, this feels like one of the most obvious choices to always take the 5x time bonus. What are the conditions or scenarios I’m not considering that would lead players to choose the +10 seconds to Tier 1 modes instead?
Finishing a battle in one attempt adds +1 energy. It will be more important once all the powerups are in as getting all 12 powerups will not be easy.
Ah, ok. That makes sense. The effect of getting multiple Tier 1’s in one attempt to get a total of +3 (likely, and maybe +4 if you sequence things right) energy can be a big deal for progressing on powerups.
Also, just in general @sk8ball … Godzilla is another fantastic game! You continue to come up with games that are fun and unique to shoot, along with different ways to play through the game to increase scoring and/or progress, depending on what they player’s goal is, and depending on game-state. Really really good stuff!
Happened early in a game.
GZ near end of game- “now a few words from Bonus”. Earlier code was " now a few words from Bowen". Clarification/intent?
Thanks
Tangentially related: getting the “we’ll be right back” bonus screen callout on ball 3 is such a slap in the face ![]()
Another minor gripe - if extra balls have been maxed and random Godzilla Powerup #1 is scored, putting +1x Skill Shot Multiplier as an option seems like a bit of a waste on the Pro.
I’ve been working on my city combos as well, and noticed that this one can be difficult to complete. If I hit the center spinner and then use the lower left flipper to hit the saucer on the fly, many times it won’t award the combo. Is it possible that the saucer hit doesn’t count until after the spinner has stopped spinning?
Finally managed to really get my teeth into the game for the first time last night; love the overall rules and progression so far!
One thing that left me scratching my head was that, after the dust had settled and the game had ended, the last 3 digits of my score were 175… what’s up with that?
Did you start Planet X? The “half your carnage bonus” seems to not account for rounding down, which may explain how your score ended in a 5.
Sam games changed the ones digit to five when you rolled the game (~4.2B), but I doubt that’s the case here as Spike can count considerably higher.
Just updated the rule sheet with information from Elwin’s official document. I might be a walking rules encyclopedia but he knows more about this game than I do, props to him. ![]()
Ah, yup, I did reach Planet X; that sounds like a plausible / likely explanation.
I was hoping it was gonna turn out to be some weird intentional feature though. Like “ok, fine, you made it to planet X? Well, you’ve played long enough so we’re DQing you from being able to get a match” ![]()
TWD has scoring beyond 4B, but that is more of an exception for SAM games.
One thing I don’t quite understand in the rulesheet is the “Magna-Grab & Imposter Battle” section. It’s unclear to me what exactly an “Imposter Battle” is, since it’s not actually mentioned within that section at all. Is that the name for the awards you get if you manage to drop the ball into the spinner lane? Or is there some actual mode in there that can be started somehow?
I assumed it was the award for dropping the ball behind the flipper.
Imposter Battle is scored by dropping the ball into the spinner lane, this is a set of four awards given by doing that.
Destruction JP BUG
Had this happen again last night and had little else lit on the playfield. Ball 1 chose Titanosarous and defeated the monster, lit the DJP shot, shot the building, magnet grabbed, but no animation or call out and just dropped the ball and DJP was no longer available. I’ll stop reporting the issue, was just the clearest circumstances under which it happened.
