Link videos to Match Play tournaments

Link videos to Match Play tournaments! If your tournament videos are posted to YouTube, you can now add them to your tournaments.

Once added, the videos show up in a carousel on the tournament itself and there are links on the individual matches directly to the relevant video. User profile pages also now collect all videos for that player. (You can opt out by going to your account settings.)

Along with the video feature, I have also released a revamped PinTips section. You’ll see “PinTips / OPDB” in the main menu, and the pages now display data from the Open Pinball Database in addition to PinTips. Videos are shown there as well, giving you quick access to tutorials and tournament videos.

How to add videos: Go to the tournament and find the match you have a video for. Click “Details” to open the info panel and then click “Add video.” Now you can paste in the YouTube link and you’re done.

those 3 videos look like they have different thumbnails, did you figure that part out?

Smart streamers cut up their streams and upload each game as individual videos to YouTube. Then you get a fresh thumbnail for each one :brain:

Yeah holy moly. I can’t even be bothers to add time stamps to my YT vids anymore. Haha

Spend your time where it matters and just add the timestamps when submitting to Match Play! All you have to do it pause the video at the right time and grab the “share” link to paste in MP.

(I submitted all your minutorial videos last night so I really saved you time there! :stuck_out_tongue:)

This isn’t the worst process in the world. I double I do it for all my events, but that’s good to know it’s possible!

I don’t actually think the people doing the streaming should necessarily be the ones to submit their videos. The feature is specifically setup so that anyone can submit the videos.

So I’m hoping some members of the pinball community will take up the cause and submit on behalf of others. Or players could even just submit their own games if they want to keep track etc.

Looking at the steps to add videos, I noticed that it requires the player to add a “streamer tag” in order to add videos. This seems like an unnecessary restriction, as the vast majority of tournament players are not streamers - they just play/appear on a tournament stream. Players may not have a “streamer tag”.

Thank you for the feedback. I have changed the wording a bit to make it clear that you are just setting a default value and that you don’t have to have your own stream.

But the speedbump is intentional and will stay. MP has almost 50,000 users and this is a feature I want people to think about what they’re doing for a minute before they start submitting videos.
