I’ve had people ask me for my strategies on several games with deep code, and I’d like to put them all in a neatly organized place so I can just link people to them. Is there a good place I could put them? Here, or Pinside, or anywhere else?
Seems sensible to create a thread here on TiltForum in the Games category – I’d just suggest labeling the thread as “Game X: My Strategy” or something like that, instead of “Game X rulesheet”.
Thanks!
I hadn’t used GameFAQs for years but a few weeks ago, it came up in search results when searching for pinball rules. Pinside seems like a more hobby-oriented place to post (in the “Forum” tab). The disadvantage of TF is that it’s only a forum, things aren’t organized by Game.
GameFAQs’ pages I believe are taken right from the ones that are on PAPA’s pinball archive, which also happened to be the site that encouraged me to start making rules pages in the first place!
I used to have a couple guides for video games hosted on GameFAQs, but then they got bought out by Fandom, a company which I consider to be a giant mafia-like scam operation, and so I removed all my contributions from GameFAQs and never looked back. Fandom hides malicious JavaScript in pages to generate fake views on videos, they plagiarize wikis then use black-hat SEO to bury the original and put their own pages above much better sources, and so on. They also like to hide a “we own everything you submit, forever, you can’t tell us to take it down, ever” clause in their TOS, so there’s no way I’m putting anything I make on any Fandom-owned site. Fandom is a scummy company and I trust them less than used car salesmen, the yakuza, and yakuza members selling used cars.
Currently thinking about making them as threads here or on Pinside, but in both cases I’d just be dumping them into the midst of forums that aren’t organized by game. Another option I’m thinking about is GitHub Pages.
Why not just make a google sheet with tabs for every game and post the link here?
