Event #1 - Classics Only Mega Matchplay Certified Tournament

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each tournament. If you have not checked in by the start of the tournament and haven’t communicated that you will be late, you may be removed from tournament.

Friday 9am to 5pm (9/12) - Qualifying starts with 20 Rounds of pinball using only the “classics”. Classics will be any game made prior to 1991. Each round will consist of one game. Balanced pairings for rounds 1-17. Rounds 18-20 will use Swiss pairings. Random draw to start the tournament. 7/5/3/1 scoring per game. All 80 players against each other.

After all 20 rounds are complete the top 32 will advance to the Finals on Saturday morning. Top 24 will make “A” division and next 8 will make “B” division.

NOTE - If you do not make the finals for Event #1, you don’t need to show up on Saturday until 2:30pm to check in for Event #2, which starts around 3pm.

We will have payouts for all 24 finalists in the “A” Division and the Top 4 in “B” Division will also receive payouts.

Top 24 Players make the A Division Finals. Automatic Tiebreakers are turned on and will be used to seed the field. Exception will be for 8th and 24th place and will not use the Automatic Tiebreakers. All players tied with the same number of accumulated points for the 8th and 24th positions will have a 1 GAME tiebreaker to determine who gets a bye and/or who gets into the finals, and who doesn’t. This 1 GAME tiebreaker is significant and will result in the final placing for all players who finish 25th or worse in the tournament. The game used for the tiebreaker will be Stars/Eight Ball/Nine Ball/Harlem and the order of play will use the automatic tiebreaker finishing position with the higher seed getting last available order spot. Example: If we have 10 players with the same number of points who finish from 21st-30th in qualifying. They all get to play a 1 GAME tiebreaker. The order of play will be 30th goes first, 29th goes 2nd, 28th goes 3rd, etc. The highest score in the tiebreaker gets 21st seed & moves onto finals, 2nd highest gets 22nd seed & moves on, 3rd highest 23rd seed, 4th highest 24th seed. Then the rest of the group is out of the tournament with their final finishing position being determined by that tiebreaker. 5th highest would be 25th place, 6th highest would be 26th place, etc. all the way to 30th place. This tiebreaker will also be significant for the 8th place position . For example, if we have a 6-way tie for 8th place (8,9,10,11,12,13), based on the Tiebreaker game the winner would get the 1st round bye, 2nd/3rd/4th/5th would be seeded 9th/10th/11th/12th in round 1. The person that finished 6th in this example tiebreak would be seeded 13th in the main final.

“B” division tiebreaker will only be for 32nd place and will follow the same guidelines listed above.

Saturday 10am to 2pm (9/13) - Finals for the Classics Mega Matchplay Event. Modified PAPA format. No points carry over from qualifying. Top 8 qualifiers get a 1st round bye. Top 2 from each group will advance to next round. 4/2/1/0 scoring. Top seed will drive the bus by picking either game or position. Each group will play 3 games. No player can pick the same game(s) in back to back rounds. For example, in round 1 of the finals if a player picks Stars, that same player CANNOT pick Stars in round 2, but they can pick it in round 3. Also, no player can pick a game that was already picked by a previous group to avoid waiting for a game to finish. For example, if a player in group 1 picks Stars, the other 3 groups cannot pick Stars and wait for it to finish. Once the “A” finals begin, the “B” finals will start and will get to pick from games that are not being used by the “A” groups. Ties will not be broken for players eliminated from the Finals.

NOTE – once the finals start, the only practice allowed is on games labeled “NOT IN TOURNAMENT”

Event #2 - Mega Matchplay Certified Tournament

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each tournament. If you have not checked in by the start of the tournament and haven’t communicated that you will be late, you may be removed from tournament.

Friday 6pm to 11:30pm (9/12) - Qualifying for Event 2 will start around 6pm on Friday night and we will play as many rounds as possible up until 11-11:30pm. The goal is to be wrapped up before midnight. We will alternate between classics and moderns. Each round will consist of one game. Balanced pairings for rounds 1-17. Rounds 18-20 will use Swiss pairings. Random draw to start the tournament. 7/5/3/1 scoring per game. All 80 players against each other.

Saturday 3pm to Midnight (9/13 ) - We will resume qualifying on Saturday around 3pm and will continue until we hit 20 total rounds of pinball. We will alternate between classics and moderns. Each round will consist of one game. Balanced pairings for rounds 1-17. Rounds 18-20 will use Swiss pairings. Random draw to start the tournament. 7/5/3/1 scoring per game. All 80 players against each other.

After all 20 rounds are complete the top 32 will advance to the Finals on Sunday morning. Top 24 will make “A” division and next 8 will make “B” division.

NOTE - If you do not make the finals for Event #2, we are offering a consolation Split Flipper tournament on Sunday.

We will have payouts for all 24 finalists in the “A” Division and the Top 4 in “B” Division will also receive payouts.
