Thanks for reminding me that I misinterpreted how it was started! Just fixed.
Has the rule sheet not been updated with the correct rules for qualifying King of the Monsters? Do I need a Super Jackpot in both Godzilla and Mechagodzilla Multiball and to beat Planet X, or as the rule sheet says, is it enough to just play either Monster Zero or Terror of Mechagodzilla, play (but not necessarily complete) Planet X, and reach Power-Up level 8? Iām confused.
The requirements for KOTM are to reach powerup level 8 and have played Planet X. Implicitly, you must have gotten a super jackpot in either GZ or MechaGZ multiball in order to light either Monster Zero or Terror of Mecha at powerup level 4. Also implicit are the requirements to reach planet X (play Tank, Bridge, Tesla, and a level-2 kaiju battle, which in turn means you must have traveled at least once from Tokyo to a second city, and played both of those level-1 battles.) You donāt have to win anything along the way other than getting either of those two supers and getting enough powerups.
Powerup level 8 can offer a choice between KOTM or whichever of Zero or Terror you didnāt play at level 4, if it has been qualified with the super jackpot. If you donāt choose KOTM at level 8, you must reach level 11 to be offered another chance at it.
Older code offered KOTM only at level 11, after having played both Monster Zero and Terror of Mecha at both levels 4 and 8.
Hello,
Minor correction suggestion here:
You have that Planet X Multiball is selectable at City Select after starting a Kaiju battle, Tesla Strike, Tank, and Bridge. This was driving me crazy because I would complete everything in Tokyo and see no Planet X Multiball. However, I did see (and play) Planet X Multiball tonight after I conquered Paris (second city for me) and started a Tier 2 Kaiju battle. Thus, I think the conditions for accessing Planet X Multiball are:
- Start Tier 1 Kaiju Battle
- Start Tier 2 Kaiju Battle
- Start Tesla Strike
- Start Bridge Attack Multiball
- Start Tank Multiball
I confirmed this and updated the wiki. I worded it this way to give a little more detail about how to start a Tier 2 battle.
- Starting a Tier 2 Kaiju Battle
- Tier 2 battles can only be played by starting a Tier 1 battle, then changing cities and completing at least half of a second Tier 1 battle in that new city.
- Starting Tesla Strike
- Starting Bridge Attack Multiball
- Starting Tank Attack Multiball
I think there may be another condition here; I just reached Power level 8 after playing Planet X (did not complete it) and I did not get an option to start KotM despite having previously played Terror of Mechagodzilla.
I had only cleared 3 cities, so if I had to guess, you ALSO have to clear all four cities to reach KotM (which would make sense; youād have to beat all four monsters individually before fighting them all together).
Was this machine on new code? Older code requires powerup level 11 for KOTM (and all four cities to reach Planet X.) I donāt know of anything in current code that prevents KOTM at level 8 and after doing Planet X. Iāve done KOTM on 3 cities and powerup level 8 on current code.
I would assume itās on the latest code; Iām playing on my personal Godzilla 70th machine.
Did you complete Planet X when you got KotM? Did you have another option when you hit level 8? In my case I did ToM and when I hit Power Up level 8 it just gave me Monster Zero.
Aha, actually you do have to complete the first half of Planet X to get to KOTM at level 8. The code update readme says:
ā- Godzilla Powerup - when the āPLANET X UNLOCKā adjustment is set to āEARLYā, completing at least the first Hurry Up in Planet X will unlock a 2nd choice for Godzilla Powerup Level 8.ā
I assume by that it means the hurryup at the scoop, after you complete all four phases. So if you donāt manage that, then you have to get to level 11 to get to KOTM. The city count still doesnāt matter.
Awesome! Thanks for the clarification!
Some changes are needed regarding KotM:
To access KotM at Level 8 you MUST have done the following:
- Get to level 8 (obviously; this implies either MZ or ToM were played);
- Get Super Jackpots in BOTH Godzilla Multiball AND Mechagodzilla Multiball.
- Get to Victory Mode in Planet X Multiball.
Getting to Victory Mode in PXM was discussed earlier in this thread. Afterwards, I completed PXM and had enough energy for Level 8, but the scoop wouldnāt light for me to power-up. This was because I purposefully avoided Mecha Multiball so as to not risk hitting 8 prior to PXM.
CORRECTION:
You do NOT need Super Jackpots in Godzilla Multiball and Mechagodzilla Multiball; you ONLY need to have played them. I saw this tonight because I started Victory Mode in Planet X Multiball and after it timed out the screen said āKing of the Monsters Unlocked at Pwr Level 8ā.
Amusingly, I was still Ievel 3 at the time because I hadnāt gotten Super Jackpots in either (Godzilla Multiball was focused on Titannosaurus).
For KOTM at level 8, you do need to have gotten a super jackpot in either (not both) GZ or MechaGZ multi, because thatās required to get past powerup level 4. Planet X tells you that KOTM is unlocked at level 8 but you still need to get there.
Sorry, I guess that was worded weird. Yes, in the original post I mention that you have to get to Level 8 (which, of course, means getting a super jackpot in GZM/MGZM) but point two was that you needed Super Jackpots in BOTH. Point two is what I was correcting. My correction post was not intended to indicate that you can play KotM without getting a Super Jackpot in either; rather, I was just noting that, according to the screen, KotM had been unlocked as a future possibility at Level 8, despite my not having gotten a Super Jackpot yet in either multiball.
