Colin Urban took back the crown from reigning champ Daniel Rone in a rematch of last year’s finals for the Oregon SCS. Went to 7 games! We started at 1 pm and wrapped up a little after 10, and only had one catastrophic malfunction (of course, during my quarterfinals game 7 against my boyfriend).

Pro tip: everything goes smoother if you wait 'til the Finals to play your significant other.

As far as Washington State news, in battle that apparently raged on until 2 AM, two relatively unknown players by the names of Raymond Davidson and Cayle George fought for the top spot with Raymond emerging as the victor. Lonnie Langford takes 3rd and Mike Corbett finished 4th. Congratulations to all those who qualified to compete today.

During our SCS tournament yesterday, which was held at my house I hired a tech, well part of the entry fee is what paid for a tech to be onsite all day. I’m not sure how most everyone else handles games going down during the SCS, but I wanted as little distractions as possible while I ran the tournament and also played in it so that’s the reason I decided to hire a tech for this tournament only. Yes, most simple issues I can fix or sometimes another player may assist, but I didn’t want anyone to have to worry about this while they played in the SCS. The move paid off tremendously.

Before practice started, all 17 of the 18 games were 100% functional. Mata Hari needed the power board replaced and the part didn’t arrive until Saturday morning.

*During practice a switch stopped working on Close Encounters (SS), and the tech fixed that.

*In the interim the tech slowly worked on removing all the wires from the bad power board on Mata and soldering them onto the new board. He was able to get Mata up and running about 90 minutes after the tournament started.

*During round 2, the left flipper broke during MB on White Water. He was able to remove the coil and replace the linkage while the game stayed on to preserve game state.

*Also during round 2, the left flipper on Grand Lizard became weak. Spring had broken and he was able to replace that and get that game working 100% again

*In round 3 the plunger on Grand Prix seized up, took it apart and cleaned it and it was fine the rest of the day.

*Also in round 3 the right flipper on Conquest came out of alignment. The set screw had falling out and gotten lost in the cabinet, he had a replacement set screw and reset the flipper and got that working again

*Also in round 3, a post fell apart in the pops section of Demo Man due to the bolt/nut becoming worn. We didn’t have a true replacement bolt, but was able to scour my garage and find a bolt that would fit and he was able to get that game back up as well.

*Lastly, in the finals, Grand Lizards right upper flipper became weak/sluggish. He tweaked the EOS, and got that game working again.

Just thought I would share my experience.
