So this is wrong right? It seems to me that super deathblows are just what happens with the super combo tomb award. They’re all called super deathblows, just the last three are 3X. Further, the last three AREN’T even deathblows outside of when super combos is running.
I was very confused by this till I just did a glass off test. I’ve been ending all my combos (regardless of supers running) with the left spinner cause of this rule sheet, but never heard the super deathblow callout or animation.
Turns out, that provides nothing. Outside of supers, you might as well end with the mummy captive ball. In supers, go for the revive spinner or bullseye (or SJP target if you want to be a crazy person).
Well since I’ve just contributed nothing above, I’ll offer a strategy I’ve been using in my Run to the Hills runs.
Need that 6 way combo? Leave tomb treasures uncollected till needed. That way, your right orbit shots will hold the ball for you to set up the inner loop. Great if you happen to find yourself sitting on a 4-way (two ramps and the left orbit and big loop). Of course, I agree with the prevailing strategy of starting 6-way combos with the inner loop, but sometimes the 4-way ramp/left orbit/big loop combo falls in your lap.
Last month I rediscovered this game in my basement after about a year. I have seen a few RTTH streamed but never one on the following settings:
Top post or open outlanes
One reasonable move tilt (anyone got a name for this?)
Competitive mode on
No extra balls
I have been trying to do this for a couple of years with no success. The closest I have ever been was nine tomb treasures, missing my 2M2M level 2 and a six-way combo (brutal). Biggest change in competitive mode is activating one revive removes both.
Another challenge to competitive mode is only ramps collect Eddie letters in the later modes. Not sure about the mystery logic at level three. Will it give you spot soul shard?
I’ll double the $50 if anyone can pull this challenge off without using the six-way combo as one of the tomb treasures!
I think comp mode on makes mystery give out in a pre-determined order. I’m not sure what else it affects. Install is what I do. Basically set the game very hard.
Found a weird bug last night. I got the super secret skill shot into the left outlane (I thought I hit a switch or two before this happened, so I was surprised to still get it.) After that I was locked out of everything. No white mode shots were lit, could not progress Mummy, and Trooper multiball locks (I had 2/3 balls locked) were also gone. Power Spinners was lit, but I couldn’t tell if it was registering or not.
