Multimorphic does this with Cosmic Cart Racing. You can match make with other others on the internet and race against them online. There is not enough critical mass that you can find a match without arranging to meet people before hand (this isn’t COD), but it works.
They also have Heads Up, a local network game that they have not released, but they have run at shows and did a trial at Dave and Busters.
I have other online ideas I might explore in my next game (after my 1P work comes to an end).
