Did you go through the register process?
Yes, I did it twice with the machine and received the confirmation email.
Go to Service Menu->Net->Insider Connected. Scan your player QR code to register the game to your account. Then you need to complete the registration on the web site. Log into your account there should be a notice regarding completing registration for a game. Select the complete registration, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the screen (if on mobile) to select the complete registration button.
Man if I only had this advice prior to my loop record haha… thank you!
nice, i thought about doing that on my Android but didn’t get around to it until i read your post
Best shortcut ever!!
So, question for people who have played any game with Insider Connected enabled - do you think that the achievements overshadow the importance of scoring points? I’ve seen this argument raised a few times and I’m not quite sure if I agree, because you kinda have to play the entire game to score the most points possible and the achievements come naturally for the most part - I’ve only played Godzilla with IC so far, but the achievements corresponded to modes and features I actively went for during play.
I’d say those are two different kinds of play. Neither is superior to the other just different ways to play. Similar to if I want to get to a wizard mode but it may not be the most lucrative scoring option. Could I get 5 loops consecutively in a game? Sure. Do I want to? Not always if I’m playing in a competitive match.
I view it as a different way to enjoy the game. Some people want to compete, some want to just “play the game”. Personally I don’t care about stern insider achievements, I care about the glory of winning a tournament.
That’s how I kinda perceive it too, as both a casual and tournament focused player. Sometimes I just head to a pinball place on a casual day where no tournaments are going on and I like the incentives that Insider Connected throws at me.
That’s exactly their plan when it comes to that. It makes casual players go “Wow look what I did and here’s the proof I did it!” People like that validation. It’s a common thing in other games(PC, console games etc) and it works. Some people just love achievements, others don’t care. It’s just another feature. I’m sure throughout my career before Stern Insider launched I’ve gotten those “achievements”.
The only benefit I semi like from it is getting actual physical items once they launch. I can’t remember the arcade game of what it was(80s? 90s?)but if you beat it a screen would pop up and you could send that in to the maker to get like a medal or something. That would make me grind those achievements if I wanted something.
Typically I don’t focus on score, unless playing in comp. I want to see as much of the game as possible.
Currently I only have Triple Godzilla SJP & 5 Buildings destroyed in a single game left to ‘collect’ and am focusing on them when I play - all of the other achievements just happened through normal game play.
Looking at other games achievements I would think that there will be more added to GZ
Not a chance. I’m going for the GC score every time I push the start button. It’s nice to look at the stats later. I like that it keeps track of my highest score and how many games I’ve played. With JJP’s low scoring games and all the new game manufacturers, no way am I going to remember all my high scores without writing them down. Now, Stern writes them down for me.
Anybody know how the XP score accumulates? Achievements have a listed award, but it seems like they sometimes award more than listed. My current XP score on GZ added to the points for the achievements I haven’t collected yet equals less than 900. What’s up with that?
Yes. They are worth double exp if the machine is “Verified” or basically a location machine verses a machine that is at home.
The upgrade kits have been shipping to “authorized Stern dealers and distributors”, per the company’s word, and I’ve seen some people discuss how they upgraded non-Godzilla games with it. Right now, the kits have online listings in a few different shops:
Links
- Marco: Pro / Premium & LE (sold out)
- Flip N Out Pinball: Pro / Premium & LE
- Cointaker: Pro / Premium & LE (pre-order)
- Nitro: Pro / Premium & LE (pre-order)
Nitro is the only one of these retailers to give a specific date for the kits’ arrival: the Pro version is slated to arrive this month, while the Premium/LE version will come in the 1st quarter of 2022. (Pre-orders are limited in both cases.)
On that note, Stern’s official list of Insider Connected locations shows that a few have also upgraded older Spike 2 games, almost all of which are Pros:
Full list (at time of writing)
- Little Shop of Games (Lutz, FL): Deadpool & Led Zeppelin
- CP Pinball (South Roxana, IL): Black Knight: Sword of Rage & Deadpool
- RLM Amusements (Grand Rapids, MI): Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast
- PINS Mechanical Cincinnati (unsurprisingly Cincinnati, OH): Deadpool
- Pinball Gallery (Malvern, PA): Avengers: Infinity Quest, Black Knight, Led Zeppelin, & Iron Maiden (a Premium!)
- Center of the Universe Brewing (Ashland, VA): Black Knight
Finally, Stern posted this video explaining how to install the retrofit kit:
Notably, it mentions that the kit may come with either a WiFi dongle or an antenna kit with a dongle assembly, owing to COVID impacting the availability of certain parts.
All my old scores are recorded as 0s. Is that a bug or just not kept record of right now?
AWS is having issues
Anyone had any trouble getting a connection kit to work? I’ve got everything installed and appearing to be working (it’s connected to wifi and all that) but it will not let me register the game on the connection screen. It just says “Unable to connect to Stern Insider Connected.” I’ve rebooted multiple times. There’s a Godzilla at this location that’s connected and working on the network.
Small update: The Beatles and Guardians of the Galaxy are now in the system, with achievements for both.
12/20 EDIT: Add Stranger Things to the list.
Noticed that on my Avengers, which I just added Insider Connected to, the achievements for Disc RPM won’t register. Is this a known issue?
Those achievements didnt work for me either.
Also, for me, the BOMB Super Jackpot one didnt register.
