Stern Insider Connected

Posting the exact statement here for posterity’s sake:

Also, the Insider Connected site once again changed the All-Access portion of the footer, seemingly settling on the same price as before:

The website should be officially up by now, I just checked it out. Has the full list of achievements for the 6 announced games (including some speed runs, nice!) and location / connection settings.

I’m still waiting on the email to transfer my old account myself.

It may seem trivial but I’d really like to upload my own icon for this thing. These stock ones are all pretty bad.

Ha, after looking them all over for a while I eventually just swiped and picked without looking. I got the frog, LOL.

Don’t worry I am sure there will be icons you can pay for in the future lol… These guys have invested a lot of money in this platform and are going to want it back and more at some point.

I’m fine with the taco one for now.

Kind of a grab bag of updates in this post. The most striking is that George Gomez went on Marco Pinball to talk about Insider Connected and revealed/confirmed some details about the conversion kits: they will cost $199.99, will be sent to operators first, and will be available (I assume to the general public?) in November. (I haven’t seen the video past roughly 20 minutes in, but it didn’t seem like there was that much else in there.)

Gary Stern had previously stated that the kits would cost around $200 and that there would be some sort of 6-month discount, but this is further confirmation if nothing else.

Also, Logan Arcade in Illinois has the first publicly available Premium Godzilla and will be holding an event related to it with IC-related rewards:

Another update: some new games have been added to Insider Connected. (All these links will only work if you have an account and are logged in, as far as I’m aware.)

Just for posterity’s sake (and because I haven’t listed it here previously), here are the six launch titles these four are joining:

I don’t know why they changed some of these from the six listed in the announcement video (which I mention in the OP). Were there unforeseen issues that required Avengers et al to be pushed back?

10/27 EDIT: I didn’t want to triple post, so here’s some further news that’s emerged. Stern’s updated the IC site in light of the impending 2021 Pinball Expo. It’s listed as a location that has the following games connected:

  • Aerosmith (1 Pro, 1 Premium)
  • Avengers: Infinity Quest (1 Pro, 1 Premium)
  • Black Knight: Sword of Rage (1 Pro)
  • Deadpool (1 Pro, 1 Premium)
  • Elvira’s House of Horrors (1 Premium)
  • Godzilla (11 Pros, 11 Premiums)
  • Iron Maiden (1 Pro)
  • Jurassic Park (1 Pro, 1 Premium)
  • Led Zeppelin (2 Pros, 2 Premiums)
  • TMNT (1 Pro, 1 Premium)

There’s also a brand new dedicated page for the Expo that currently has two sections: leaderboards for each game (currently just Stern employees and anons) and two exclusive badges:

Rumour that the kits aren’t going to arrive for sale until after Christmas?

Some quick feedback on the network implementation:

1: no IPv6 support given it’s a Linux system feels nuts!
2: no way to statically set your IP address or gateway on wifi but possible on Ethernet.
3: (sorry talking BS).
4: the big one for me. No way to name your game room!

This is the wifi adaptor in my GZ LE

DHCP ONLY?
WILL V6 work if DHCP does not pass any V4 info?

V6 doesn’t seem supported at all - only way to get the game on line is IPV4 using DHCP

sorry I was talking BS - the MAC address of Wired and WIFI is viewable.

I dunno if this helps but you can opt to not use DHCP if running a wired connection (there’s a custom setting in this case allowing things like static IP)

WOW that is so bad
direct boxes even let you set your own local ip addr.

How can you mess up an device that badly.

Ray - that is very helpful thanks.

Neil.

That’s what came with your GZ LE? That adaptor looks very different from the CanaKit Wi-Fi adapter adaptors posted before.

Also bummed at the expected 2022 for retro kits. The JP Premiums rolling off the line now have it installed.

Yeah it’s also in my pro that I have on location - I think Stern have put that it for CE compliance - I can tell you that the antenna is very good!

Very cool to come into the shed this morning and see the game had updated overnight. Top job Stern!
