Any format. Here is what I’ve done for the last couple years in Alabama. After the first round, the eight losers are placed into two groups of four, based on original seed. Each group plays a single game with high seed getting choice. Two advance from each group. Next the four “winners” play a single game for spots 9,10,11,12 and the four “losers” play a single game for spots 13,14,15,16.

After the second round, the four losers play a single game, again high seed gets choice of game or order. They play for spots 5,6,7,8.
