At a closer look, the sling do have traditional kickers. Maybe modernised - the slings looks to have a more shallow footprint leaving space for two inlines both sides.
I guess the magnets are TAF-like usage. To have ghost-y ball manipulation.
Happy to see some innovation - espcially on a mech as old and traditional as the slings.

I think you see a traditional sling in the Pro version. The Prem/LE appears to have nothing more than a leaf switch where the sling kicker would go.

What happened to Lyman I have experience myself many times. I used to own a World Cup Soccer and when I needed to pause the game while playing it - to answer the phone or alike - I would shoot the goal and open the coin door.
When resuming game on ball search, the timing was so that the magnet was pulsed right around the time the ball returned to the flipper area.
