When did this happen?

Coming in hot with pedantic questions.

  • When this change go into effect?
  • Is there any grandfathering? Seems like events (like this one) are potentially caught in a new rule with no enactment date.
  • Is this listed anywhere on the IFPA website aside from this new page? I wasn’t aware of this change until this post. The FAQ page still says 30 days prior and doesn’t mention pre-registration: Frequently Asked Questions
  • In your post are you questioning the submission date for this specific event? IFPA site doesn’t appear to keep track of Tournament Submission Date as a field, but it seems like this event has been on the site since at least late July based on dates of similar Tournament ID numbers.

On the Tournament registration page, even though the text is updated the form still lets you submit when you put in a pre-registration date prior to 30 days. So even though there’s (now) text on the page, there’s no enforcement mechanism on the site itself.

Everyone is invited to my “Test Tournament Please Delete” which will be in 2024. Pre-registration opens tomorrow.

or = must pass one condition
and = must pass all conditions

so by the wording it’s should be fine

:man_shrugging:

I forget when @shep added it to the submission page, but it was after multiple complaints about people finding an event on the IFPA calendar only to realize they never had any chance of participating because the event was already filled months before it even made it’s way onto the IFPA calendar.

We’ve been rolling with a soft launch on this, although this pops up every time someone goes to submit an event to the calendar. Typically we’ll waive through a first time offender and expect them to be well aware of this rule from that point forward.

I don’t believe it’s anywhere else, although it does pop up every time a TD goes to submit an event to the IFPA calendar.

@Shep alerted this to me and said it wasn’t submitted to the IFPA calendar yet. If it has been already then it’s a nothing burger and all is well.

I think @Shep is still working on the functionality of how this is integrated to the submission module of our site. Plan on things being much tighter before we hit the 2023 season.

Yeah looks like it’s #52998 International Flipper Pinball Association

Appreciate the replies!

It was approved earlier in the week, so go sign up this Sunday at 8pm eastern!

Yeah, not really sure how it happened, but I never saw this tournament on the pre-registration page, but now it’s there and I can’t explain why. Apologies for the mix up, I got up early for the 10 hour drive to District 82.

good luck Shep~!

did you change the wording to say that both must be 30 days prior?

Get it Brian!
