Colorado in March: WPPRtunity & Womens & Pinmasters & Nationals

As you may know, Denver is hosting Nationals, the Women’s World Championships, and Pinmasters March 5th -> March 8th.

In the interest of WPPRtunities, we are working on finalizing details on other tournaments for those who want to extend their trip a day or two, or aren’t sure what to do with themselves during their off session time from pingolf.

We’ve nearly finalized: a large tournament Wednesday night (March 4th) at 1up Greenwood Village, a large strikes tournament Thursday night (March 5th) at 1up Colfax, and a flip frenzy on Sunday (March 8th) at Blizzard Mountain.

I’m also working on trying to add a Herb style qualifying event that could run Friday and Saturday (so you can play it on your off-hours from pingolf).

So, if you’re getting your flights, consider coming in Wednesday afternoon and flying out Sunday night.

If I know there is demand for more, we could try and get something together for Tuesday the 3rd or Monday the 9th. We don’t get a lot of chances to host people from outside of Colorado - so we’re trying to make the most of it!

All of these events have player caps…register now!

Let’s go “WPPRtunity”! We can’t leave the EUROs taking all the big Wppr’s opportunity from for themselves!

I like this idea, we’ve discussed doing something similar in Oklahoma in the future. If tournaments do get put together, I’d try to get in Tuesday to play in as many as I could.

For the Wednesday (and Thursday) tournos is there any pre-registration or is it first come, first served at the door? The link leads via IFPA to the Colorado FB page without further info that I could see

A registration process for the Wednesday and Thursday tournaments is being setup and we should have info for you tonight or tomorrow.

Colorado is a chill place to play. Sometimes…too chill.

Many thanks to Ryan Wanger for herding our cats.

Preregistration links (ie: reserve your spot) for the 1up events are here, and have been added to the top post (which was turned into a wiki).

There are a few state champs this year that are under 21. Have any WPPRangements been made so that they can attend these events? They look like fun.

The Wednesday and Thursday venues are barcades that are normally 21+ but perhaps @DNO or @snowgalvin could chime in.

The Sunday venue is always all ages.

Good question. I reached out to the venues and will let you know.

I was told that the Wednesday tournament at 1up Greenwood is all ages however the Thursday tournament at 1up Colfax is unfortunately 21+.

I’m not sure if vertical IDs are a thing outside of Colorado but I was also told to share that the 1ups don’t accept them. In Colorado anyone under 21 is issued an ID with a portrait orientation (aka vertical ID). So if you are 21 or older, you must have a horizontal or regular ID.

To clear any additional confusion, there are three 1up locations in Denver: 1up LoDo, 1up Colfax and 1up Greenwood. Don’t get lazy typing in the location for your Lyft driver or you could end up at the wrong spot.

and what will the IFPA do if some out of state or out of the USA is banned do to having an ID like that?

We’ll take it all the way to the Supreme Court!!

Any update on the herb style event and where it would be located?

If it happened, it would almost certainly be at 1up Colfax because that’s so close to Game Exchange where Pinmasters is held. I’m having trouble figuring out when finals would be that doesn’t step on other stuff. I’d love to run it but it is probably too insane to pull off playing in Pinmasters at the same time.

If you’d love to play in a Herb event during your off time from Pinmasters, like this post and maybe that will be the extra push I need to make it happen. :slightly_smiling_face:

(Also toss out a suggestion for when or do finals given that: Pinmasters tiebreakers and first round is Saturday night, Pinmasters Finals is Sunday morning, and the Flip Frenzy also starts Sunday morning and goes for a few hours).

Honestly don’t know the best time available, all I know is, my wife and I have no responsibilities and no kids from Wednesday - Sunday that week. Cram as much pinball in there as possible!

I like this attitude!

The Wednesday and Thursday events are roughly 80% full. Don’t wait to preregister!!

As someone who doesn’t plan on qualifying (lol) I’m all for a Herb style tourney with a whatever schedule. I’ve never been to a PinMasters so I dunno what to expect.

Even if the Herb doesn’t happen, thanks for the initial post and helping create other side tourneys, helps us out of towners. I’ve never really traveled for pinball so this is one of my first forays and having extra events helps sway me haha.

Thanks for the kind words…and glad you’re going to make it out here for all of this! Maybe Saturday night is the way to go for a finals for the Herb event. Pinmasters first round would only involve 16 plus any tiebreakers.
